PRESBYTERIAN SCHOOL OF HOUSTON/ Gala 2020
The theme of the 2020 Gala was Flash Back to 1989, the year Presbyterian School opened its doors to Houston families. Neon colors and sans-serif bold typeface in capital letters were determinant in the visual concept. To create a visual movement in the logo, I used repetition and transparency, 100% magenta, and 40% blue (blue corporate color palette).
A minimalist geometric acrylic paint created in one of my personal case studies was the inspiration for this project. The paint was later digitized and used as background in the composition.
The invitation was printed in traditional printing process CMYK, and the logos and years were printed using additional glossy spot printing.
If time permits during the creative process, I enjoy experimenting with traditional graphic tools such as drawings, paper sculptures, acrylic paints, and others. These techniques inspire me, and I often incorporate these traditional elements into the final design.
The design for the Gala 2020 created a strong and distinctive visual concept that successfully promoted the school’s visual identity and easily adapted to different media platforms.

PRESBYTERIAN SCHOOL OF HOUSTON/ Gala 2018
The theme for the 2018 Gala was “disco party.” In that year began the construction of the new building for Early Childhood and Lower school, therefore it was required to add a construction element for the gala’s visual concept.
During the creative process I started playing with graphics and letters, moving them in different directions, finding a simple way to represent a wrecking ball and a disco ball party at the same time, keeping clean lines and solid colors, responding to the school’s visual identity.

PRESBYTERIAN SCHOOL OF HOUSTON / GALA 2016
My first project with Presbyterian School started in 2015. The school needed a visual concept, logo and invitation design for the Gala 2016.
The theme of the Gala was inspired by the book: The night circus. The main colors were black, white and red, and I used digital typography and handwriting for the logo. A graphic element that represents three tents appears In the composition, referring not only to the idea of the circus experience, but also representing the venue of the 2016 Gala at the Outdoor Education Campus, an open space where big tents were installed as part of the decoration and shelter for the event. To print the invitation the initial idea was to use spot color, printing in black, white and red inks only, instead of using conventional CMYK. Nevertheless to get bold colors it was necessary first to print in CMYK and then to use spot color on white ink over black, and red ink over black to create a distinctive visual effect, this printing effect was used on the paragraph that tells about the circus experience, showing big fonts that add visual texture to the design in the front of the invitation. For an extra delicate touch we used embossed for the school logo.
